Someone says yes. Then what?
A client writes: “Yes, let's do it.” You are thrilled. Then comes the quiet part: the invoice, the bank details, the awkward wait. With payments on your own site, a yes becomes a payment in a minute, with a receipt, and you never chase anyone.

Stripe takes the payment and keeps the card details out of your hands. Your agent connects it to your site and writes the receipt and thank-you page. You decide the price and press go.
Payment link or your own checkout?
Start with a payment link. You create it in Stripe without code: a product, a price, a link you can put on your site or send in an email. That is enough for a service or a few products.
An own checkout is something your agent builds into your site, for when payment has to connect to something else, like a booking that is confirmed only after payment. It is more to test, so take that step once the link has worked for a while.
How do I test without real money?
Connect Stripe to my website in test mode. Create a product for [service] at [price]. After payment the customer should get a receipt by email and land on a thank-you page in my voice (see BRAND.md). Show me how to test with Stripe's test cards, and test that the payment, the receipt and the thank-you page work. Do not switch to live mode until I say so.
When does the money arrive?
A new Stripe account has a waiting period before the first payout. Stripe says it normally comes about seven days after your first successful payment, and can take up to fourteen days for some industries. The wait cannot be skipped. After that, payouts follow the schedule you choose.
So make one small real payment early, say ten kronor with your own card, and the clock starts. At the same time check that your bank account and identity are completed in Stripe. Incomplete verification is a common reason money seems stuck.

Stripe says about 7 days after the first payment.
Earliest first payout: 11 November. 7 days to go.
This is Stripe's general guidance. Your Stripe dashboard shows the date for your own account. Check it there.
What about VAT and receipts?
Stripe can send a receipt after each payment. What must be on it and how VAT is handled depends on how you run your business. This is not advice: ask your accountant before you go live, and read what the Swedish Tax Agency says about VAT.
What should I check before I go live?
- The test payment goes through and the receipt arrives.
- A declined test payment shows a message a customer can understand.
- Price, currency and product name match your website.
- Your refund terms are on the page and in the receipt.
- Bank account and verification are complete in Stripe.
- Secret keys are in the .env file and not in anything that is published.
What becomes possible when payments work?
A payment you do not have to be present for changes what a small business can sell.
- A guide, template or checklist the customer downloads after paying.
- A workshop with tickets and a page that fills itself.
- A package: three sessions, a follow-up and a summary, at a fixed price.
- Gift cards, because people want to give what you do.

Suggest five products I can make from what I know that can be sold without me being there. For each: who buys it, what is in it, a starting price (say it is a suggestion) and how the customer receives it after paying.
Questions people ask
Does it cost anything to test?
No. Test mode is free and no real money moves.
Can I take payments before the first payout?
Yes. Payments are received straight away, but the money is paid out to your bank only after the waiting period.
Should my agent have access to my Stripe account?
Give it no more than it needs. Create a restricted key for the task, and check what it does before anything goes live.
