Stage 1 of 6: Land. Your agent becomes a habit.

Where should you start? Three paths after the first week

Pick the path by where your business stands. If you have no site that feels like you: brand book and site first. If the site exists but nobody finds you: posts and search. If people find you but everything is manual: payments, a client list and proposals.

Which path fits me?

Picture this

Imagine the first week is behind you. The agent works, you have a habit, and you are looking at a long list of things you could build. The list is not the problem. The order is.

Which path fits you?

Three statements. Say whether each is true for you today.

I have a website I would happily show a new client
New people find me without me doing anything special
Booking, paying and following up are mostly manual

What is on each path?

  • Presence: brand book, images, video, then payments. You end up with a site and a look that are clearly you.
  • Be found: brand book, posts in batches, automatic publishing, search strategy, Search Console. You end up with a flow where ideas become posts and searches lead people to you.
  • Receive and run: payments, a simple CRM, a proposal template, an overview. You end up with a small office that runs itself.

Why does the brand book come first on almost every path?

Almost everything the agent writes, draws and builds afterwards starts from it. Without it you get generic texts and images that do not belong together, and you correct the same thing again and again. The exception is the third path, where payments and follow-up cost you the most time right now. There it can wait a few weeks.

Where does each path end?

Each path ends somewhere bigger than a list of steps.

Stretch

Describe my business as it can look in a year if everything works: what an ordinary week looks like, what happens without me and what I spend my time on instead. Be concrete and use what I have said about my work.

Questions people ask

Can I walk more than one path at once?

You can, but one new thing a week is enough to take in. Start with one and switch when you have done three steps.

What if I have already done some of the steps?

Skip them. Read the guide for the step to see if anything is missing, and move on.

Who is writing this

I am Nathaniel, a commercial operator. For twenty years, across four continents and more than fifteen ventures, I have taken research and young companies from idea to customer. Two KTH spin-offs reached joint development agreements with Fortune 500 partners. An indoor farm sold its full production within about ninety days and ended in a joint venture exit. This year I am a commercial expert for the European Innovation Council's Tech to Market programme. Now I build agents, because the hard part of new technology is rarely the technology. It is getting people to want it and use it.
